Sally and John 1974I was number four.

I was born to Donald and Marianne Whitlock on August 26, 1969. My dad was stationed in Ft. Benning, Georgia and I was born at Martin Army Hospital. I was the fourth child (in 1975 my little brother John came along). I joined my brother Dana (16) and my sisters, Netta (13) and Rebecca (10).

My dad held me for about six weeks…carried me everywhere, and slept with me on his shoulder. When I was six weeks old, he went to Vietnam. He was assigned to Psy Ops (Psychological Operations) during the Vietnam War. My mother was a homemaker!

I am told that I was the first of the children to be breastfed. I am told that I was tended to by a nurturing mother and sisters who were tickled pink with me and I was absolutely cherished by all of them. Of course, I don't actually remember this, but it helped to make me who I am today.

In some ways I was the typical middle class girl: I did well in school, I spent my free time on the phone or at the mall, and I had plenty of friends! I was a mix of studious—loving to read and study—and wild—let’s just say that “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” describes my young adult years rather well. Most of that time is really better left to the imagination. Suffice it to say that the paths I took taught me a great deal of valuable lessons. For that I am thankful!

I met the man of my dreams in the early 90’s. Our life together has been everything I ever wanted and we are just as much (more!) in love now then when we first fell for each other! We celebrated our 20th anniversary this year (we were married in December of 1991). Our family includes myself, my wonderful husband, Jonathan, and 6 great kids; Jonathan II, Hannah, Sarah, Leah, Julia and Joshua—born in 1992, 1994, 1995, 1997, 2000,  and 2007–and a plethora of pets! I am a homemaker and a homeschooling mom. I enjoy reading, writing, entertaining, and visiting!
